Friday morning just before 6 a.m., over 6,500 Seattle City Light customers found themselves suddenly plunged into darkness. The power outage primarily impacted the neighborhoods of Beacon Hill and Rainier Valley, making for a rather dreary start to the day. It seems like Mother Nature decided it was time for a light show—minus the lights! Luckily, utility crews have been dispatched to investigate the cause and are working to restore power.
As of the latest updates, about 500 customers in the Boulevard Park area were still waiting for their lights to flicker back on. Seattle City Light has promised full restoration by noon, but let’s face it: those not quite so lucky today are probably feeling a little left in the dark—pun fully intended! With everyone checking the outage map every five minutes, it’s hard not to admire how we seemingly can’t live without our screens, even if they’re just showing us a big ol’ “NO POWER” notification.
Power outages can really throw a wrench in a Friday morning routine, and you can bet that a caffeine fix is at the top of many people’s wish lists. As we wait to see how quickly life returns to normal, it’s a good reminder of just how dependent we are on electricity. So, what do you think? If everything went dark for a day, what would you miss most—your phone, your coffee maker, or the internet? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments!
